Anyways, if you do one bad thing once, you get a strike. Another, gets you 2 strikes, which gives you a one week ban. Then 3 strikes, and your banned permanently.

as in if you get one strike, does it remain? or can you somehow wash it off?

No, it remains in your profile. If you get a strike, you keep it as a warning, then you can get another - a temporary ban, then a permanent ban. Just like a ticket - if you speed, it stays on your record. For ever.
